Well, Derry’s first ever BarCamp has come and gone and hopefully the 120 in attendance enjoyed the event.

I thought I’d take a minute to ‘pen’ a few quick lines of thanks and to point BarCampers to some great reviews, recaps and resources.

In particular I’d like to say a personal thanks to everyone at the University of Ulster for the venue, the welcome and the help of the staff on the day (not to mention the scones). A special mention goes to Karen Reid and Eddie Friel from the UU for their help in the organisation. I think everyone agreed that the venue was fantastic - and the beers at the SU weren’t too bad either.

In total, nearly 30 speakers put together presentations and informal demos. The feedback from the talks has been tremendous and there truly was something for everyone.

Of course the biggest thanks has to go out to each and every attendee who made the effort - and especially those who came from Belfast, Donegal, Sligo and even Dublin to show their support. It wouldn’t have been much of a BarCamp without the conversations and buzz.

On a personal note, I’d like to thank everyone who got involved in organising BarCamp Derry and helped to spread the word and secure such a brilliant turnout. It certainly was a fantastic group effort - my sincere thanks.
